The National Center of Epidemiological Surveillance and Diseases Control (CENAVECE), is a decentralized body of the Ministry of Health responsible of implementing and conducting various substantive programs for diseases prevention and control, established by the National Health Program 2001 - 2006, through the epidemiological surveillance research, evaluation and advice, that aims to reduce population morbidity and mortality and encourage decision making process among managers.

Center responsible of regulating the operation of health surveillance, prevention and protection programs, to reduce their risks and providing the population with quality care and equity.

Build quality information from national, coordinating and being RNLSP reference, in diagnosis, research, training and technological development for epidemiological surveillance to enable decision making in disease control and the development and orientation national health programs
InDRE to fulfill its responsibilities performs four main functions:

•Assessment of Technical Competence the State Public Health Laboratories
Mission
Offering products and reference services, research, technological innovation and human resource training, to ensure the definition of disease, by diagnosis of proven quality, through the National Network of Public Health Laboratories (RNLSP) in response to the needs of epidemiological surveillance, ensuring reliable results for decision making to improve the morbidity and mortality in the major diseases of public health importance, and early warning of emerging diseases in the international context.

The actual InDRE it was developed at the Institute of Public Health and Tropical Diseases (ISET). In 1989, the 50th anniversary of its existence, It´s changed the name to National Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (INDRE) and given the name of Dr. Manuel Martinez Baez as tribute to one of the most illustrious founders of the institution.

About us
The functions of health and public assistance Mexico became institutionalized as responsibilities State from the forties twentieth century.
Since then, established epidemiological surveillance systems to assist to public health programs and control diseases. In the modern era, particularly in the nineties, the monitoring subsystems homogenized country's epidemiological procedures and integrated into the National Epidemiological Surveillance (SINAVE), achieving and unity of purpose and operation between health sector institutions and between institutions states.
In 1995 he established the National Committee Epidemiological Surveillance (CONAVE), which represented a good step towards building a more efficient, coherent and homogenous nationwide. Since then, epidemiological surveillance in Mexico is performed with a system sector and has expanded rapidly synchronous coverage.
With its current structure and operation, the System has successfully faced the threat of emerging epidemic processes, particularly outbreaks of communicable diseases. Example it was the effective response to the epidemic anger after being introduced on the continent American at the beginning of the nineties.
General Purpose
Build and position epidemiological intelligence relevant to decision making in health promotion and disease prevention and control of public health interest.
Mission
We are a program manager in the production of epidemic intelligence to guide public health decisions, with a team committed to achieving excellence in contributing to improving the health of Mexicans.
Vision
In 2012 we will be a program leading producer of innovative and comprehensive epidemiological intelligence, contributing to decisions to reduce the disease burden in the country and improve the welfare of the population
